Giselle is available for classroom, small-group, and/or assembly-style elementary school presentations. She is also available for Teacher Professional Development and other training/consultation needs. All visits are available both in-person and virtually.

CLASSROOM and SMALL-GROUP VISITS are engaging, interactive, and tailored to the age of the audience. Students will learn specific techniques for creative writing and storytelling via hands-on activities. Each visit includes time for Q&A and book/bookplate signing.

Giselle’s LARGE-GROUP PRESENTATIONS are excellent for school assemblies, festivals, conferences, family nights, and other community events. In these sessions, ideal for elementary-age children, Giselle describes who she was at her audience’s ages, where she lived and travelled, and what she liked to read. Her engaging presentation employs stories and pictures to trace her path from pre-medical college student to literature professor, overcoming obstacles and following her dream to write children’s books. The presentation also features a discussion of the value of writing for all types of careers, what inspires her ideas, and how revision helps to strengthen everyone’s work. Each presentation includes time for Q&A and book/bookplate signing.

TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT can be tailored for teachers at any grade level. Giselle has experience working with teachers in pre-schools, K-12, and colleges/universities. Workshops are designed to provide instructors and librarians the opportunity to collaborate while expanding their skill sets. Past participants commend Giselle for providing new activities and perspectives on reading, writing, and critical thinking in fun and lively ways; exposing them to a diverse range of texts and ideas; building confidence; decreasing burnout—all vital to improving success in their classrooms and professional environments.
