About

Giselle Anatol is a professor of English at the University of Kansas. She teaches courses on children's and young adult literature, Caribbean literature, and literature of the African diaspora.

Giselle was born in Brooklyn, New York shortly after her parents immigrated to the United States from Trinidad & Tobago. She still visits the islands as often as she can to spend time with family and enjoy a day at Maracas Bay—one of her favorite beaches in the world.

Giselle enjoys travelling, learning about world cultures, exploring different styles of art, and the chance to try new food dishes. Her favorite travel companion is her spouse, DeVaughn. They live in Kansas City, Missouri and enjoy spending time with their children, Mylisha and Miles, and their Yorkie-Poo, Tipsy. When Giselle isn't spending time with family and friends, you can find her gardening, crafting, or sipping a cup of jasmine tea while reading a book. Just listen for her distinctive laugh or look for her infectious smile and you can find her even in the largest crowds.

Giselle has loved reading for as long as she can recall. In fact, she enjoyed reading so much that as a young child her mother often had to pat her down for books when she was being sent outside for fresh air and exercise.
